It’s Sunday so it must be time for a bit of virtual travel. I’ve got an idea. Why don’t we visit one of the most stunning places on the planet. Let’s go to Switzerland.
As a child I would visit my towns library. It wasn’t very big. It had masses of a Mills & Boon books. That’s not really going to float a young boys boat. The library didn’t seem to have that many exciting books. But it had one. It was a reference book so I couldn’t take it home. So every Saturday morning I would carefully get this book. Find a comfy seat and read. This was a book about climbing in Switzerland. I would look in awe at the mountain photos and read the daring tales of the brave climbers.
Switzerland seemed like a fantasy world. Too good to be real.
How could a country look this exciting and this beautiful.
I would dream of standing on top of these peaks and gazing out into the distance. My heart racing as I am surrounded by The Alps.
Then fast forward many years and I’m there. I’m stood on some of those very mountains.
Switzerland is real. It’s actually more stunning than I ever imagined.
And next to me is a little boy. A boy starting his love affair with this magical country.
It’s a beautiful country indeed. I can conclude that from the beautiful pictures that you have shared!

Hurray! Swiss Sunday on Saturday Night (my phone has learned these words๐)
That picture of the moon… WOW! It’s so big! I love the pictures that show the greens of the grass and the trees and then the greys of the mountains with the white snow. It’s like all the seasons are represented in one picture.
Thank you for the perfect end to a good day!๐๐ผ๐ฆ๐๐ธ๐

No Swiss Monday this time. I’m totally cheating on my no weekend blogging rule. I needed those mountain views. Thanks for sharing. โบ Can absolutely understand the love affair with Switzerland. Keep dreaming and remembering fondly, my friend. โค

Itโs an unexpected pleasure. Where is your dream place?

Other than wanting to see England I don’t really have a dream destination. Anywhere friends are would be nice. One of my favorite trips was to meet one of my best friends in person. That probably sounds wierd. But most of my closest friends don’t live close by. So for me it’s more the people than the place I guess. I suppose that’s why I want to see England so much. It’s a connection to my grand parents and great-grandparents. And now you! ๐

Thank you. You would be always welcome in Yorkshire. It doesnโt sound weird at all. Those connections are so important.

It is always so touching to see how you love this place. If I did not already live in this part of the world I would fall in love too looking at your photos. Gosh, look at that moon!!

That moon was the last night we had in Switzerland. It was such a special way for my partner to finally check out of that beautiful country. Almost like a parting gift to her. x

I always dreamed of going to Tibet. I made a pledge that if I got to Tibet, I would stop travelling…not entirely sure why , but that is pretty much what happened. Like you I was stunned by the mountains. I’m glad you have such a wonderful memory of your partner. Those things are so precious.

Thank you. Yes I think the same about Tibet. Thatโs the pinnacle for me.

I went in 1986. We drove overland from Kathmandu and the moment I stepped onto Tibetan soil it felt like magic. It was a pretty tough trip and it was cold and uncomfortable, food was ghastly but I enjoyed it all. It was all I had expected. The downer was the Chinese and what they were doing and have continued to do. They do no belong there but I can’t see that they will ever leave. The Tibetans have suffered terribly. One of the reasons I don’t allow myself to complain too often, even though I just had a rant on my blog. It escalated today and I lost my temper so now no doubt they think of me as that nasty old English woman! Oh dear.

I just hate when people talk down to you as if you are old and stupid. I did customer service for nearly 40 years and those people need some lessons! Lots of angry people in this country right now ans they really have a reason!!

Once again, such beautiful pictures!!! Thank you so much. I meant to come visit on Sunday, but … well, you can understand how I’ve gotten way behind on such things with what’s going on here. Still, it’s just as stunning and breathtaking on a Tuesday as on a Sunday! Thank you!!!
