I do like summer, especially a Yorkshire summer. Those deep blue skies. Wall to wall sunshine. Baking temperatures. Never lets us down.

“Dad it’s like being in The Mediterranean

Not sure how we survive the heat. Can’t believe our house doesn’t have air conditioning. Surely that would be more useful than damp proofing.

Have I ever been sunbathing Dad.”

A long time ago.

I can’t remember doing it.”

You did Hawklad. It was a couple of years ago. A rare hot day. You said that you wanted to try sunbathing.

Oh I remember. We put a couple of towels down on the lawn”

That’s right. We brought the iPad out and found some beach noises to play.

Yes it was just seagulls and whales

We then took some sand out from the sandpit and put it round the towels.

I went and found some of my old seashells and scattered them over the sand. Then we built a small sandcastle”

You brought out a few seaside animal toys like sharks. We put our shorts on.

The shades went on and we went toplessssssss”

That’s right Hawklad. You then laid down on the towel and then before I had a chance to get down on my towel you shouted. I’M BORED WITH THIS NOW CAN WE GO AND WATCH A MOVIE. That was it. You sunbathed for about 5 seconds.

That long. Dad maybe you should get out there now. Top up your suntan.”

***********

The question is did Dad brave the summer weather and go topless?

  1. That weather looks heavenly to me right now! I’d be out there dancing and twirling and probably falling on my butt, and laughing.

Not exactly beach weather. You could put a tub with your dirty clothes out there and let Mother Nature wash your clothes ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
I’m not much of a sunbather. I’d rather walk along the shore, or explore the ride pools. It IS nice to just sit and watch the waves hit the shore.๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ’Œ๐Ÿ’Œ

  2. Well in some places itโ€™s scorching hot with temps way above110 and n some places itโ€™s raining hard in summer with cool temps. And both categories arenโ€™t happy.

      1. It does indeed. We have plenty of weather to moan about too! I tend to moan even more when it’s been abnormally hot as it has been down here recently. Can’t bear that. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  3. Get out there … topless with your hanky on your head. Donโ€™t be a big Jessie. We are currently knee deep in water in our awning trying to dry out clothes, board games and shoes. Happy holidays ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ˜Š

  4. My older two have moments where they decide to go sunbathing. Declan will point to his pinky finger if he thinks I somehow missed it when applying sunscreen. He gives his body such close inspection to be sure every bit of him is protected. It’s kind of funny watching the process (as long as I am seated – it can take a while ๐Ÿ™‚ ).

  5. ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„ thatโ€™s hilarious!

Well sunbathing isnโ€™t great… can cause cancer and also even wrinkles

While I love the sun โ˜€๏ธ… I also know can be dangerous

At least you have fun no matter the weather… itโ€™s all how you weather through things anyway โœŒ๏ธ

I would probably have to get a sun lamp there lol… cause sun has positive impact on serotonin and melatonin. Serotonin helps reduce anxiety and improve mood. Low levels of serotonin can be linked to depression.

All my sun- definitely lifts my spirits – too much rain and cloudiness causes me to get antsy or sad

Yeah I think I would need one of those sun lamps (not for tanning – just for those serotonin and melatonin levels)

      1. Sounds it! Well mine is not exactly cheery lol … we are so smoke infested currently!! Skies and the air around is all gray and awful smoke smell… there is sort of a sun โ˜€๏ธ… big orange ๐ŸŠ ball in the sky

I miss clean air and being outside without burning eyes, throat or smelling like I was in a fire ๐Ÿคจ๐Ÿ˜„โœŒ๏ธ

Iโ€™ve been having small headaches cause that smoke is alot.

Mine is not depressing ? Cause I dunno ? Doesnโ€™t depress me? But annoys me lol โœŒ๏ธ tired of smoke and fire!!

A little wetness sounds really nice.

You should get a sun lamp? That might help some??

When I worked at the school through the winter there was a sun lamp on my desk… Itโ€™s bright … but I dunno it kinda oddly worked? lol … the outside didnโ€™t bother me as much?

      2. Yeah, this afternoon wasnโ€™t bad – still smoky but is getting less little by little… they are getting containment on the smaller fires ๐Ÿ”ฅ That helps!

        That was crazy!

But yes I would LOVE a breath of fresh air!!! โค๏ธ

  6. Just the thought of towels on lawn grossed me out (too humid). Maybe you were on the patio??

If you went topless then it must have been after Hawklad went indoors for he surely would have provided a good quip!

It’s reasonable tanning weather right now… c’mon over!!

  7. Y’know, it seems so unfair that we have actually got all this sunshine and warm weather (except for a brief storm today that brought hail, 60 mph winds, and the neighbor’s shoes onto our patio). I’m thinking it would really be only fair of me to share my 92ยฐ (F) temperatures and 98% humidity with you, and in return, I’ll take your cooler, autumnal temps and some of your rain! Deal? Oh, and when you do that topless sunbathing thing, we want pictures!!!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

      1. A start, yes. But, is the sun shining and is it warm? You’ll get a chuckle out of what a dumb thing I did. I told you about the storm yesterday? Well, my van window was down the whole time … in fact, I didn’t remember it until today when I had to use the van to go pick up my grocery order. Oops!

  8. If there is one thing us brits can rely on its certainly a good rainy day :(. Feeling your pain and trying to remember what the warmth of the sun feels like!
