Wow how tired did I feel this morning. Definitely the Yorkshire Zombie. I just couldn’t wake up which is just perfect on the first school at home day for over week. I could just about manage walking into walls, nothing else. In a desperate attempt to wake up before I might be needed to check Pythagorean calculations I crawled outside. The fresh cold air and a coffee would spoon the business. It was only after a couple of minutes that I realised that the mug with the steaming hot coffee was still in the kitchen. I had brought out the jar of instant coffee……
Clearly under 3 hours sleep is not enough. The frustrating thing is that my mind is whirling too fast at night and virtually not at all in the morning. If only that was the other way round. As hard a I try sleep is will only come to me around 4am. Sadly on a school day the alarm goes at 630am.
That is a recipe for Parenting Zombies.
To have a mind that will not shut down to allow rest in near unbearable. I recall easily all the times I tried to work on so little sleep. I know it isn’t easy at any time to endure the struggle.

Failure is not an option. As long as you are trying, you are succeeding.

That sounds very rough. I hope the day flies by for you and you can catch some rest later tonight!

Oh I can imagine Sheree, as I recall doing 3 (yes three) shifts in a row, one after the other and then having to sing in tune (long story). Of course all mothers that have a long natural childbirth, they are totally one up on anyone with that regard. No sleep and working all those muscles on and on and on and on… 🤰

I’m letting you on a secret: You’re going to be fine, you’re going to have just the right amount of sleep and in the meantime your thoughts are going to be refreshing and peaceful. If you don’t believe me, as me. 🙂

Sleep deprivation is a form of torture. Twice I was sent for sleep studies….waste of time but I guess they need guinea pigs. Lately I have found that Dramamine (the old kind, not the non-drowsy) not only relieves nausea (not related to travel by sea!) but lulls me to sleep. I daresay not recommended long term, but needs must!

I woke up with a migraine today, so definitely not a good night for me either. Hope we both have a better night tonight!

The day has only gotten worse unfortunately. Found out my uncle is in the hospital and not expected to live through the night. That definitely didn’t help 😦

gees! 2.5 hours is certainly very little when trying to do the homeschool thing! ❤

Forgive me, but I couldn’t stop laughing at the vision of you standing outside in the cold morning air with a jar of instant coffee 🙂 It’s tough. Hope that you’ve made it through the day.

It’s a lovely image. It was when I noticed it took me about 10 seconds to work out what on Earth had happened to my cup…

Oh, Gary!☹ This has been going on too long! I know all too well the toll insomnia takes. I hope you can catch a short nap later. Everyone says don’t nap, but my experience is, you get rest when you can!! Have you tried benadryl? It’s used in most “sleep aid” products.
You’re doing such a great job, but you have too many worries!☹
Sending HUGS!!💌💌💌💌

I so hope that when this home schooling is finally over you feel the relaxation from the lifted weight which makes you sleep better.

Maybe try some binaural music (headphones do it best) before you go to bed.

Not really sure that you can blame lack of sleep for the instant coffee going out with you. Yesterday T opened the cupboard and pulled out an opened tin of cat food. I had put it in the cupboard over the sink instead of into the fridge. And there was no actual reason for me to have even opened that cupboard. So you see. And there is the time that I recently caught myself almost about to put the toaster in the fridge. Which is really odd because the cupboard it goes in is literally right there. And the fridge requires a few steps to get to.
Hugs to you and Hawklad. 🙂

Such a curse. Mind you, even after a good night’s sleep, I could do the coffee thing. A favourite trick of mine was to dip a paint brush in my coffee.
