It’s been a while since I ran past here. Beautiful Castle Howard. Looking back at the dates on the photos it was February 2020.
I’m the kinda person who worries. Often imagine the worst things. All that can go wrong (not often looking at all that could go right). That Marvel Dr Strange thing. Endlessly going through all the potential scenarios. Well the bad ones. But back those 14 months as hard as I tried I would not have ever envisioned the crazy and awful events which did take place. A pandemic. Lockdowns.
So what is the point of worrying about what might or might not happen down the line. It doesn’t help at all in the long run. Especially as the worrying is not an exact science.
The other thing is that worrying just about the potential bad stuff misses all the potential great stuff that could happen. Even with the pandemic. It’s been dreadful but look at all the fantastic people who have stepped up and done wonderful things. The heroes helping others. The sacrifices many have been prepared to make for the greater good.
Going forward surely if I’m going to try and think about the future I would be better off starting first with all the potential good stuff that might happen. That sounds like a plan.
Yup, sounds like a good plan. I think it’s human nature to worry but it never helps us to be prepared for future

I love Castle Howard. Visited once when I was a teenager.
Yep, let’s try and think of the positives that might happen. It’s much better for the soul 🤗❤️💕

Backdrop for Brideshead! I’m sure I must have visited Castle Howard with the school in prehistoric times too.
Let’s make a Positive Pact (no promises that I’ll keep to it, but I’ll give it a try).

Congratulations on changing sides, Gary. An optomist from a pessimist is a big change, but one people need to come to if they want to really enjoy their lives. I don’t agree with Sadje, though, worrying isn’t human nature, but a neurosis taught to us by our parents, who learned it from theirs. It is so prevalent our children pick it up without being told to. One of the best things we can do for our kids is to keep any worrying private, and let them experience a hopeful childhood. The more happy children we produce, the better the world will become.
I am not saying don’t let them see when bad things do happen, just be realistic when they come. But the worrying about “What if?” Better to show them “If I try, this might!”

I have always been a chronic worrier and all it got me in 73 years was lots of headaches. Whatever I worried about either happened and worked out or didn’t happen!

That’s exactly the same with me

Worrying is a mind thief but I completely understand-I do it myself. For us consummate worry-warts, conscious mindfulness is more important than ever. Here’s to worry free days.

Wow… were on the same wave length. Matching socks today. 😃 What you wrote is a great Biblical truth too.
(Matthew 6:25-34)…. 34 “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
And that’s the truth! 😃 I hope you’re smiling. ❤

I used to worry, worry, worry… no more! I realized that I am a capable person, and I can deal with whatever happens, when it happens. I don’t think about “what IF”, I think about “what IS”.
You are just as strong, just as capable, Gary!! Look at everything you’ve already been through, and you’re still going strong! It might not always be pretty, but it works. Trust yourself, and forget the worrying!!💌💌💌💌
