It’s odd how you can get used to so little sleep. It’s basically been over a year now, lucky to get 4 hours kip a night. Often less than 2 hours and all too frequently no sleep at all.. What would 6 hours feel like…..

I hate first thing in the morning now. Feeling as if I’m wading through treacle and all without a functioning brain. Still there are some advantages. No need now for Movie Directors to train up actors for creepy zombie roles. Just film me in the morning, straight out of bed. That sight will scare the pants of people. Never has the phrase ‘need your beauty sleep’ been more apt…..

So here’s to another day of yawns, dropping things, crashing into doors and generally scaring the local wildlife half to death. Here’s to INSOMNIA.

  1. Ugh, that sounds awful. I am so sorry. I have the “fall asleep and then wake up in the wee hours for the rest of the night” problem, but not every night. I hope you get some good sleep soon!

      1. You know you are living like someone who is already on sleeping pills. I remember being in hospital and being given some, I was still functioning (like you are), but the hilarious things of seeing a loo and yet sitting on the floor or seeing double doors and one is open and the other closed, so walking through the closed one {{{giggling}}}. You know the score when it comes to the questioning your thoughts e.g. I might not wake up. < is it true? …

      2. Unless they knock me out completely, I can still hear a cry or a call out. The thing is, that if I don’t get enough sleep (and this is the real worry of not getting sleep), when it does come, it comes far too deep and there lays the biggest risk.

  2. GAAHHHHH!
I used to be able to “sleep ANYwhere, ANY time”. When that ended, and I stopped being able to fall asleep, I took Tylenol PM for a looong time. Since it’s a risk for liver failure, my doc started prescribing xanax. After many years of nightly use, it started causing next-day fatigue. So now I’m using THC edibles to ween off that.

I tried melatonin but required obscene amounts to get my brain to SHUT UP and let me sleep.

I hope you find your way back to a good night’s sleep!!!

      1. It’s cheap and doesn’t harm. Worth a try. Just expect to need more than the generic 3mg. I required a min of 9mg… and even that required the ability to relax and allow myself to sleep.

Ofyen, my brain wouldn’t turn off and/or I wanted something that forced sleep… thus the tylenol pm and other options.

  3. That’s so miserable. I am thankful that staying up until midnight means I fall asleep. Also I am sure the pills the doctor prescribed me, when I was 24/7 caring for Len help. It’s 4 a.m. your time so hoping you are snoring away. 😴💤

  4. Oooooh yes. I rarely get 6 hours. Even as a kid, my sleep cycle sucked, often waking in the night and being up for a while. I guess that’s why my body is just used to 3-4 hours a night, I guess. That doesn’t make the mornings any easier, though, that’s for sure. Hugs to you, Friend, and do find a moment to lay still and enjoy the birdsong outside! xxxxxxx

      1. It’ll be okay. We’re fortunate to have a chiropractor one town over that’s covered by Bo’s insurance. It sucks, but it’s already getting better. How are things looking by you? I hear events are starting up again!

  5. Sleeping Beauty was my 2nd favourite Disney Princess for years, literally because of the sleeping, lol. I’m sure you’ve tried a lot of different things! I drink chamomile a couple of hours before bed, sometimes I’ll have a warm shower, because that relaxes my body. At a certain point I stop looking at my phone. I then go on to read books, if I’m not tired.

  6. My sleep mask features the words “Sleeping Beauty.” It’s not a true story… 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 It’s more like Sleepless in Vancouver. 🤣😂🤣😂🤣 One day… maybe one day we’ll both get that much needed sleep. Till then crashing into doors will a theme with us. 😆 Hang in there Superdad. ❤ Sorry that were matching socks on this one.

  7. That’s something I won’t celebrate. It’s AWFUL. I once had to work a “midnight shift”. I thought I would die! Sleeping in daylight…..only possible when driving a car!!! Not good.

  8. That must be miserable. Is there something you can try to help? Maybe a sleep app or one with sleep stories? Hugs to you. 🌟💛
