A proper Yorkshire road….

Itโ€™s a bit tight trying to overtake here. It was even a bit tight when I cycled down here, my but was overhanging both sides of the road…..๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ Definitely a slow moving wide load.

My poor, much abused bike has been having a rest. Itโ€™s not had to support my massive posterior for over 15 months now. After that length of time Iโ€™m not sure if I will remember how to ride anymore. It never came naturally to me anyway. I couldnโ€™t ride until I was about 16. After years of repeated falling off I finally found a way to stay on. My left hand has to hold the handlebar with the bite force of a really annoyed crocodile. Once there that hand can never move, or the grip relaxed. If I do that then I can stay on the bike. Any other positioning of that left hand and itโ€™s increasing wobbles followed by the inevitable ground impact.

Now it feels like I might have to relearn that skill again. Thing about it is that it wonโ€™t be the only skill I will have to relearn. Relearning to recover ground before I can start to build again. Thatโ€™s the plan anyway…..

  1. Oh that sky! That road! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

I think we’re ALL going to have to relearn a few skills. It’s kinda cool in a way. We’re all going to be a little socially awkward after the lockdowns. Levels the playing field.๐Ÿ˜‰

I haven’t been on a bike in decades. I fall down at least once a week though๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

  2. Oh yes. Lots of relearning to be done. From changing tires to riding a bike to remembering how brakes work. But we WILL get through this all somehow, because that’s what friends do for one another. xxxxxxxxx

  3. I love cycling and try to do half an hour’s cycling every day around our country roads. I’ve persevered and now I can stand up when going uphill. However, I don’t know how anybody can ride a bike with no hands on the handlebars though!

  4. My oldest just learned last year too. He’s pretty coordinated but this one skill was just lost on him. His fears can get in the way sometimes. I would imagine if I were to try to ride a bike, well, I think I would like to take my first run in private. Would hate to have that debacle be seen by anyone but me!

  5. Photos such as this make me really want to visit Yorkshire! So pretty!

I hear you. I never was one for riding bike and even trying to get my butt out the door for a walk has proven to be a much bigger challenge this year. Ugh!
