Sometimes all you can do is shake your head and sigh.

I was searching online for some new noise reduction earplugs for Hawklad. He needs these in settings with lots of background noise, like school classrooms and dinner halls. It’s not really about loud noise, just lots of competing sounds. His old ones are too small for him now. Problem is that he struggles with the feel of most of those you can get hold of.

So I did a search on if any particular brands of earplugs had been used successfully. See if any of the review sites had any tips. And here’s where I sighed.

The search brought up this little gem of a question on Quora.

“Why do people with Aspergers not like music……”

There are no words.

Well I bought a few earplugs which Hawklad can use when hopefully he sees the following bands in the next year or so.

The Darkness, Hollywood Vampires, Aerosmith, Deep Purple, Blue Oyster Cult, Ozzy….

And for no particular reason here are Hawklad’s favourite songs that he listens to virtually every day.

David Bowie – Space Oddity

Black Sabbath – Paranoid

ELO – Mr Blue Sky

Alice Cooper – Poison

Iron Maiden – Can I Play With Madness

Kiss – I was made for loving you

Europe – Final Countdown

Bonnie Tyler – Holding Out For a Hero

AC/DC – TNT

Frozen – Let It Go

And his most favourite

Alter Bridge – Metalingus

Yes music. Lots of people love music.

  1. What a strange question that showed up there. Music is a tool to achieve so many reactions, also to calm and center. It only depends on the kind of music. I love Hawklad’s list. Not because of the specific choices but because of the variety of styles.

  2. Sounds like a question from someone very ignorant. There’s a lot of those on Quora. One time, I came across someone asking if slapping their stomach as hard as they could would make their belly fat disappear. Definitely worth a head shake.

  3. Oh my gosh, Declan and I were talking today about what “non-verbal” meant and we reviewed his years as being non-verbal. He wanted to know what his first words were when he finally started to speak and he said, “Let it go” from the soundtrack to Frozen. I agreed – his words came from the music he heard and felt. Music helped to bring his speech back and still brings him so much joy to listen to and feel.

  5. My husband said that is a great list! He likes all the songs. I confess that most of them are not my style, but I do like Europe and Bonnie Tyler! 🙂 Music is awesome and can be so healing in many ways. Tell him to keep listening!

On the drive to take Daughter to work last night Ben got upset with me for changing the radio station. “Happy” was on, a it’s okay, but “Black Hole Sun” is better, right?!
Not according to Ben. I had to change it back🤦🏼‍♀️ Guess we know who’s in charge🤪😂😂😂
