Way-hay it’s Sunday here, so it must be time to do a bit of much needed virtual travelling. A journey which will take us to beautiful Switzerland.
So while we wander round this stunning land, why don’t we consider some ever so important Swiss Facts….
Switzerland virtually every year has at least two cities in the top 10 list of best cities to live on the planet.
Switzerland makes half of the worlds production of luxury watches.
Switzerland consumes more chocolate per capita than any other country in the world. It also produces more chocolate than anywhere else. They invented milk chocolate.
Switzerland is about 3 times smaller than New York.
In 2007 peace loving Switzerland accidentally invaded Lichtenstein. Thankfully the world didn’t spiral into a global nuclear war following the incident. If it had then the country has enough nuclear shelters to house its entire population.
It has a square national flag. You won’t find many other countries in the world doing that..
They have FOUR official languages. German, French, Italian and Romansh.
It’s also a little known fact that in Switzerland it is illegal for Dads to have an ice lolly.
It’s Sunday so does anyone fancy a little virtual trip to a wonderful country called Switzerland.
Yes I might be currently over 1000km away in another part of Europe. But my heart is there.
So as my world rapidly shrinks for the next few months, I think it’s time to remember the beauty of The Alps.
The wonderful and friendly people. The brilliant culture.
The clock work precision of daily life. Even its wildlife get in on the act.
The stunning clear blue Lakes.
The beautiful Swiss villages and towns.
The always colourful alpine meadows.
The crisp mountain air.
And above all the peace.
Over the last month or so sunsets have sadly been at a premium in Yorkshire.
But when they do make an appearance they are often stunning.
As grim and frustrating as a day may have been just one moment can lift the spirits. An unexpected smile, a compliment, someone showing that they care, a loving hug or in this case a brief piece of natural theatre. I really hope everyone finds at least one of those moments today.
Thanks to Di (Pensitivity101) for the Quote Me 321 tag.
Rory (A Guy Called Bloke) selects a random topic and the challenge is to post two quotes on that topic. The topic here is Inner Beauty.
The first one is from Miss Piggy
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it may be necessary from time to time to give a stupid or misinformed beholder a black eye
The second is from Avijeet Das
True beauty is not in how people look. It is in how people love, care, and share
And one extra for free. Need a bit of a Carl Sagan fix.
The beauty of a living thing is not the atoms that go into it, but the way those atoms are put together
I’m going to open this up to anyone who fancies a go. If you do give Rory a mention. Thanks.
I took the mad dog for his morning constitutional walk. We pass a couple of streams and a small lake. Just very grey. Got me thinking. Even in the summer they are always just grey. No colour.
Suddenly my mind wanders to happier times. European Holidays. The two things that immediately strike you when you visit Switzerland:
- The staggering beauty of the Alps
- The beautiful colour of the Lakes. This photo does not do them justice.
