One of those mornings. Can’t log onto the works system. Unable to drive into work as the narrow access lane is closed for urgent repair work. Made some butterfly cakes which sunk so badly they are ring donuts now. Then tried to make some cookies but only had enough flour to make 5 really small ones. Went shopping but really spent too much money due to the cost of healthy options.
Then I looked out of the garden window.
Sat by itself. Under the Apple Tree. We have the first Daffodil of the year. This would make my partner very happy.
Now how do I keep the mad dog off it….
WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THE UK AND OTHER PARTS OF EUROPE…? It’s February! Doesn’t February have snow? Or at least cold weather?? lol (sorry didn’t mean to yell…) 🙂
I have several friends in Germany and Switzerland who have been posting on IG or FB that they are enjoying the spring-like weather. I just hope you don’t get winter in May.
I distinctly remember snow in February in my childhood in Switzerland…so weird.
Still nice though…I love the daffodils. Here we can buy them in the store. Maybe I’ll do that, treat myself to some colour. You know, while tripping over snow and ice all day. 🙂

It is almost T-shirt weather. Earliest for us in a long time.

I’m actually sitting here in a tee shirt and joggers. Just went outside to get the bin in and it is surprisingly mild, though the wind has a bite.
It’s ridiculous! Our garden has little in it, but down the road everything is pushing forth, crocus, daffs, even some dwarf tulips!

Sounds nice. Normal service has been resumed in Yorkshire, it’s raining.

Ah. It usually rains after Hubby has either washed the car (or the boat when we had it), cleaned the windows, or cut the grass.

Very nice! Our schools are shut down today for a snow/ice storm which should continue into tomorrow – I am excited to see Spring around me!

It’s bizarre we are been on the edge of weather like yours all winter. Occasionally a bit of snow but not the arctic blast that keeps being predicted. Then it’s just suddenly tipped into spring.

Daffs are in the shops at a pound a bunch, but are no more than green torpedoes. The lovely thick woolly pullies we bought ourselves are still in the cupboard and I can get away with a jumper and body warmer walking the dog!

We have beautiful camellia flowers at the front and back of the property I live. They have appeared all around the gate that leads down to my little abode.
Turning a cake into a doughnut? That’s not easy!

That sounds lovely….It’s a talent really. I decided against trying them. Probably a good call as even the birds are giving them a wide berth.

The final condemnation on any home bake is when not even the birds are interested in it!
But don’t be discouraged. For every successful bake there are many others that we are allowed to keep secret.
It is always the trying that counts!

Trying is everything. My favourite pigeon has just got stuck into my bake.

I bet Jimmy would have no qualms with the butterfly cakes… but would that get you into trouble with the RSPCA for animal cruelty?? 😉

He is actually a softy. He’s never tried to bite anything. Just tries to lick anything. We have a frog which he tries to lick, only risk is he gets excited and might crush him. He’s been known to climb in the hedges to have a closer look at nests.

No, no – I meant would YOU get into trouble with them for poisoning your pet if he ate the cakes/donuts?? 😉
(Your icon kinda gives away Jimmy’s personality!!)

Unfortunately he’s eaten worse. I left a jar of curry powder open, he enjoyed that, stunk for weeks though…

If the dog doesn’t get it, the next light rain will knock it down. Daffodils are a big disappointment…

So glad you find the rays of sunshine in what sometimes could be quite gloomy periods!
You really do need to get some help on the baking front however… maybe your son could give you a hand/take over baking duties?? I’m sure he would pick up recipes and stick to them quite well. 🙂

Yes I would love to go back to my seaside birth place. Capture it before it dies. Sadly all the industry is closing and the fishing boats are not sailing as much. Suspect my phone camera wouldn’t do it justice anyway. Need a camera. But suspect that our son who has been in his room with his iPad will come out soon with new ways of spending any spare coins…….
