sorry this should have been posted last night.
After visiting the Hospital our son is enjoying his second TLC movie marathon. Today’s entertainment is provided by the 4 live action ScoobyDoo movies. Let’s see what impact the ghosts, ghouls and Scooby Snacks have on my responses.
Thank you to Sadje for the Sunshine Blogger Award nomination.
The Sunshine Blogger Award is an award for bloggers who are creative, positive, and inspiring – people who spread “sunshine” to the blogging world! Very much like Sadje.
The Rules:
1.Thank the blogger/s who nominated you.
2.Use the “Sunshine Blogger Award” logo on your post and list the rules.
3.Answer the 11 questions the selector asks of you.
4.Nominate 11 bloggers you want to give the award to.
5.Ask the bloggers 11 questions of your own.
The Questions from Sadje
Which one, do you feel is your best post?
Funnily it’s one I’ve not got round to posting yet. It’s the one where me and the gang manage to solve the old lighthouse mystery. Waiting for the really cute Thelma to unmask the Zombie Headless Horseman (still trying to work out how you get a mask on someone headless, maybe it’s for the horse).
How do you get inspiration for writing?
Just real life events or son or crazy dreams or pets or food disasters or Scooby Snacks
If given a choice would you choose traveling by train or ship?
Love train journeys. So did my partner. Tended to always get the train from Yorkshire to Switzerland. Many hours and 4 changes but so relaxing.
Are you an early bird or a night owl?
My preference is night owl and late bird. But those days went out of the window when our son was born.
Which would you say is the best part of your life?
Being a parent.
How was life in childhood for you?
Privileged to have a loving family. Privileged to go to a war zone of a school. So many great TV shows ScoobyDoo, Star Trek, Captain Scarlet, BananaSplits, UFO, Joe 90, Captain Pugwash, Doctor Who.
Are you a coffee person or a tea addict?
Definitely a coffee person. But was overdosing on caffeine so have recently switched to tea. Now feel properly English.
Food that you cannot resists?
Apple crumble and custard.
What should be the first thing a child be taught?
To change their own nappies.
How are you enjoying blogging?
After the world changed I found it really difficult to connect with people. Started to lose touch with the world. But I found it much easier to blog. Blogging makes me feel connected.
What are your ambitions for your blog?
Solve as many mysteries as I can. Keep the pesky meddling gang together.
My Questions
- Do you believe in 🛸 UFOs?
- Thing you like the most about your country?
- Thing you hate the most about your country?
- Favourite type of holiday?
- Which character from ScoobyDoo are you most like?
- What book have you read the most?
- Which movie have you seen the most?
- If an entry exam was introduced for world leaders what would be the first and last questions?
- What was your dream as a child?
- Did you achieve your dream?
- Your favourite character from ScoobyDoo?

Congrats on the award! Train journeys are nice, but very expensive. Yorkshire to Switzerland? That’s impressive!
I think night owl/late bird is a good combination 🙂

You need to book up months in advance and get the offers and go at times others don’t fancy. Only way we could afford to get to Switzerland by rail. It has the advantage that you are not stuck at airport security for hours.

Western Cape Province congrats gratefully received in Yorkshire. Always wanted to go to Cape Town. Only got to see Pretoria, Johannesburg and Witbank (think it’s renamed now).

I think you should just make the top banner of your entire site a ‘Sunshine Blogger’. You light up so many people with your stories and sharing your son with us. You have quite a following and it starts to feel like a long distance family…or a ‘Blog Village’.
I have never traveled by train (except the kiddie one at my hometown park). It sounds wonderful. The UK & Europe do trains much better than we do. Most Americans can’t grasp mass transit. Far too many love their cars and, thus, contribute to the harrowing traffic. Of course, this is a rather large country and national mass transit just would not work these days. They can’t even maintain the roads and Amtrack has been operating in the red for decades.
I am a night critter, too. I recognize ScoobyDoo, Star Trek and Who…and, I think the Banana Splits. I am unfamiliar with the others.

Check them out, classics. Thank you for your kind words. I like the sound of a blog village. Some form of cyber pub and cyber village hall and cyber village school sound fun. The UK did do trains well but …. Now they are run down, late and way too expensive. Switzerland still has precision public transport and the train system is a pleasure.

I’d like to visit Switzerland. I understand that the only way to live there is to be born there or be filthy rich. And, they don’t seem to have an immigration problem…nor wars.

They are surrounded by countries with big social and terror problems. I know speaking to some at the hotel on the last visit that they are worried that it’s only a matter of time. I remember waiting for a train at Basel and a chap walked in wearing medieval gear with a huge sword. No one battered an eye. In Britain he would have been shot in seconds.

ScoobyDoo is great. Cartoons are wonderful but even the live action films are enjoyable. It’s a safe, fun world where good triumphs over evil. The main characters never change, are so different but they are a loving team.

I haven’t seen any of the live action ones … maybe a treat for a rainy day! Yes, every now and then it’s healthy for us to step back from the world and be a kid again. Sigh.

As I get older it becomes more tempting. The movies are clearly not big budget especially the last 2. But they are daft, quite sentimental and safe. Decent versions replicas of the cartoons.

Oh man, Banana Splits?! That show was OUT THERE, like, waaaaaaaaaaaaay out there! 🙂 We’ve never watched the live-action Scooby movies, but we gave Blondie the first couple seasons of the original cartoon. That’s been fun. Some time I’ll find A PUP NAMED SCOOBY DOO. That was on during my childhood, and I always thought it fun. 🙂

I remember a pup named ScoobyDoo. Really cute and silly. Must look that up to see ifs on TV. I managed to get the Splits on DVD. Your right it was so out there. I loved the cartoons so much. But some of them featured a mini live action series about a daughter and her dad and a sort of island treasure adventures – it was awful.
