Tropical weather in Yorkshire.
At least its the season that yields perfect mushroom weather….

I also think it’s the season that yields just a bit of muppetry as well.
We went for a very wet windy walk at a local venue. I apologised to the person sat at reception as I fumbled in all my pockets to find the season ticket cards. A few things struck me about the bloke sat at the reception desk. He was pointing vigorously at my left hand and secondly he was bizarrely almost bent double as he appeared to be trying to cover the ticket machine bar reader with his other hand. He also looked really uncomfortable as he was also trying to contort his neck into an unnatural position in an attempt to continue a call with a phone wedged precariously under the chin.
It wasn’t until the phone crashed onto the desk, terminating the call that it was all explained to me.
I was holding the missing tickets in my left hand as I fumbled with my right to dig deeper in a pointless pocket search…..
The reception chap was on a call to IT trying to get help with the poorly reception software, explaining his plight to a never ending stream of call centre IT Helpers. Been this way for almost two hours…..
And apparently he had been repeatedly and way too frequently contorting his body trying to cover up the bar reader with his hand while talking with the Helpline. Every time someone scanned a ticket, the system crashed. His back unsurprisingly was killing him now…..
Why don’t you just pull the power cable out of the back of the bar reader, no need to keep bending forward. You could also just cover the bar reader with a bag, or just put a ‘don’t scan’ sign up.….
“Pants why didn’t I think about that two hours ago when I still had a pain free back” is a more family friendly translation of what the receptionist said.
We’ve all been there, especially at this damp time of year….
I’ve been seeing a lot of toadstools growing in the grass here, the big white caps. Guess it’s from the bird droppings.

popping up all over now, but they are quite a bit later than usual.

That’s what I thought, but this is the first time I’ve actually seen them on the grass alongside the pavements here.

Shaggy ink cap first photo and Fly agaric second perhaps? Probably not spelt that way.
As for the poor bloke, the saying goes something along the line of only those not holding the leaping horse knows the best way to hold the leaping horse (something like that).

There is probably a book to be written on the subject of solving problems the easy way, instead of the difficult way we often manage. Like you and your new friend, I am often guilty of making problems for myself where none need to exist. 🙂

I was doing that today, making things really more complicated than it should be

Yes, it seems to be human nature. That’s why I’ve often thought it was better not to think too much – then you only see one way.

My first thought was “put up a sign!” His inability to think of something “obvious” reminds me of the time that I spent 16 hours inputting a floorplan on my CAD system, all whole knowing there was an easier way that I couldn’t recall. As I finished, it finally came to me. If I’d remembered from the start, the job would have taken 4 hours or less.

I should go back, I’m hoping it’s covered over with something like a glove now 😂

Love the mushroom pictures!!! And that poor guy! I understand about holding the tickets in your left hand while searching for them with your right! I remember one time in the grocery checkout I was panicked, looking … nay, digging … through my pockets for my car keys. The clerk finally said, as I was holding up the line, “Is that them in your hand?” Yep … it was. Egg on my face!

I did it again today, put my card in the card machine and then started to panic when I couldn’t find my card😂😂

My reasoning is that we have put so much into our brains that they are overflowing … sounds better than saying we’re losing our marbles, yes? 🤣🤣

Gorgeous pix of mushrooms; I wouldn’t try ingesting them, though!

That’s so funny. 😁 Not if you’re the one with the sore back though… I love wild mushrooms. We used to eat them for breakfast.

when I used to wild camp more, I loved finding a few safe mushrooms to fry up.

This post brings back memories on an occasion walking to the shop. All of a sudden, I thought crap, I haven’t bought my purse as I stopped to look in my bag to check if I had.
I was holding my purse all along.

Oh my goodness, those mushrooms are stunning. I’ve only ever seen one in real life, but it wasn’t nice enough to photograph as someone or something had squished it.

A gazillion years ago we used to collect mushrooms in the fields in Wiltshire. They were the most delicious I ever ate. I think they were like the ones in your first photo? Poor bloke with his IT problems must have been grateful to you!

Same weather here. During a break in days of rain, I mowed and snapped photos of 5 different types of mushrooms. And nearly ran over three cute tiny green frogs. Tis the season!

I have to go on frog safety hunts before cutting our grass. We have 5 I have to locate first.
