Somethings never fail to work. With Hawklad it’s HISTORY. So what better way to spend an unusually sunny day than to walk around a city with a shed load of history.

YORK

The Viking Capital of England, once for a brief time the political heart of the Roman Empire, Saxons, Normans, Middle Ages. History on History.

And wonderfully still no skyscrapers…..

If you get the chance, come and see it for yourself.

  1. Thanks, Gary, for this fun tour of York. I spent many happy times wandering those streets during the summers of 1991-95 while I was studying there. These pics bring back those times. Such a special place.

  2. Beautiful, Gary. We did a UK tour in 2013 with my in laws and I recall York being one of our day trips. Lovely city and it’s wonderful that Hawklad has a love of history that you’ve also nurtured. It never fails to work indeed! 🙏 Thanks for this tour and glad you enjoyed it together on a sunny day!

  3. As in “The grand old Duke of York, he had 10000 men. He marched them up to the top of the hill and marched them down again. And when you’re up, you’re up. And when you’re down, you’re down. And when you’re only half way up, you’re neither up nor down” ???

  4. I was lucky enough to visit York once and as we entered the Minster, a choir was practicing. I am not religious, but it gave me chills. I yearn for an ancient place without skyscrapers. We have none where I now live but the oldest sites date only to the 1700’s. If those pictures are recent…t-shirts? As always, I enjoyed your photos.

  5. It is indeed a lovely city. Looks like you had the perfect day. Too many people at times, but you can steer away from them. Glad you have something to bring joy into your lives.
