Two storms with names this week, that’s 10 named storms this season so far. It is definitely a bit bracing perched on top of a little Northern Hill. I would tell you the average wind speed in our garden but the recently purchased weather station was obliterated during the last storm.
Let’s just say it’s BREEZY and a tad DAMP.
The perfect time to put the recycling out for collection. I dread to think which country our cardboard is currently flying across.
It’s odd that you can live in a little bungalow for over 20 years and still feel completely lost when the lights cut out. The perfect time to test the various torches and battery lamps, because this newfangled piped electricity has proved a bit part time over the last few months. The other odd thing is the different perspective torch light gives on familiarity. Sat by myself in a king sized bed, in a room clearly made for two with half empty wardrobes, all illuminated by a cheap torch….
It shines a flickering, underpowered light on life and loss.
Sending you hugs, Gary. Hope this stormy moment passes by soon and warm sun is back out again.

This is so weird, because I got heatstroke yesterday! Because I have a anxiety now of losing light/power, every couple of months now I do a check. Mind you, I don’t always do something about it, haha. I used to love power outages =/ It is a totally weird feeling, because even if you turn all the lights out at bedtime, if there’s no power outage, you KNOW you can turn a light on. The amount of times I’ve gotten up, with no light on and not felt weird. But with power outage, I feel weird!

I was thinking the same today. So much we just assume is ours. Too reliant.

I’ve been starting my shifts using a head torch. My fears of farm dogs and those that might mug me, are outweighed by the need to get on. Sitting in darkness just now, not having a shift this morning, I just had to get up and would hate to have found no power. Modern life is all set by this ability to have the day early, to be able to go to bed late, but it isn’t natural. Me sitting here on the laptop isn’t natural, but more tea vicar? (actually a coffee for me, make it black, with two sugars) ☕

Oh, bless! I don’t even want to imagine how that feels. I wish they would stop naming storms. I know it wouldn’t alter the velocity of the wind, but it’s surely just weather. Don’t they have anything better to report on? Maybe easy for me to say. I’m sorry, Gary.

Unbelievably my intricate packing some how kept it in place seemingly unlike the rest of the village. It’s like the biggest ever ticker tape parade. 😊

I love the idea of even on the grimmest days, the sun is still there. ❤️

That’s a good observation and poignant. Maybe if they stop naming the storms? Over here it works the other way, when they are named and everyone gets excited, it’s all for nothing. When they say 2 inches, get your shovel ready. (There are sad exceptions of course)

Yes I like that idea.

I so can relate with your storms. Your scenery looks like mine. Rain the last several days a break today but so dreary and raining coming in tomorrow for the weekend.and I do understand that feeling with the torch lights and loss. I been in my new place for three yrs I’m cozy.and at home.and when my so not good partner left. I do get how it feels wavering the lights going out.The torch..candles to put a whole different perspective on loss. Hugs Gary.❤️
