Hawklad’s Mum had a bucklet list of places she really wanted to visit. She was blessed to tick off quite a few locations from the list but sadly a few still escaped her. One such place was in Switzerland….

A small lake called Blausee found near the river Kander in the Bernese Oberland. A deep blue lake set in stunning surroundings which is completely fed by underground springs. As a result it is crystal clear and you can clearly see the bottom of the lake, even though it’s 12m deep. It’s apparently MAGICAL.

Frustratingly we were frequently in the area but never quite made to the lake. It was always one of those,

We will get there NEXT TIME…..

TIME does run out, so if you have those places to visit, don’t let time runout on them.

  1. Hi Gary.
I really thought you and Hawklad had been to Switzerland?
I was planning on doing a road trip one of these days.
I think I might have changed my mind.
Doing a road trip on my own is probably not safe.
My home has become my sanctuary.
Love my birds and my flowers.
    And, my spider!

  2. Coincidentally I have been admiring photos a friend posted taken in Switzerland – great images, and a country I’d love to visit.
You are so right. We will have regrets for those things we miss doing.

  3. I haven’t got a bucket list. I’ve not even got a shopping list at the moment. I guess there is a wish list of sorts: 1) Find that history book I wanted to send and send it (it’s here somewhere, unless someone has picked it up, borrowed it and started to read it at their place). 2) Go to bed before it’s time to get up. 3) Do the embroidery on some jeans. 4) Wash the kitchen floor. 5) Discuss travel arrangements for the summer visitors with them. 6) Sort out the room they’re going to stay in to be awesome. 7) Refer to 2) zzzZZZzzz.

  4. We have a lake like that in Canada, West Blue Lake in the Turtle Mountains of central Manitoba. Only hand-propelled craft such as canoes or rowboats are allowed on it to preserve its clarity and pristineness. It was my favourite camping site, bar none.
And then I got too old to camp, my body can’t take sleeping on the ground anymore… 😪

  5. Wow, God makes amazing things! That is so lovely. I have visited a lot of beautiful places in the US, but, sadly, I will never be able to visit any other countries. We just don’t have money to travel out of our country. I really would like to visit Ireland, the place my ancestors came from, but I always tell myself that it doesn’t matter, because heaven will look just like Ireland, and I definitely plan on going to heaven! 👍🏼
