An early online college finish for Hawklad and off we went for an adventure. Into the mist and drizzle…
We found ourselves by the famous old fishing town, Whitby. As the light faded, the weather closed in…
Definitely felt a bit more Gothic Dracula than Festive Cheer, but still fun. On nights like this you can imagine how Whitby inspired Bram Stoker to write the famous horror masterpiece.

Finally a few signs of the festive period…

Could the diet survive walking past one of the countries finest Fish and Chips restaurants…

NO…..
Merry christmas Garry! Fish and chips yummy! Hope you enjoyed them! X

I love the photos. There is something about dark, wet nights and swirling mist and lights reflecting off the wet roads that inspires…stories! Is that a whale bone?

Yeah. I reckon I would be calling in for fish and chips too. Especially if I am going to smell them before I see them. 😊😋

Thanks for this reminder of the Anglo Irish author Bram Stoker! My husband, as a boy, grew up very close to where Bram was born in Clontarf, Dublin. (In a different era of course ☺️) Like Whitby it’s close to the sea too and can look a bit spooky in the misty rain. He also attended the same University as Mr. Stoker… where the latter is remembered to this day.

Really good night shots. I especially like the compositions of number 6 and the last one. How is Hawklad getting on with the on line college course?

it’s up and down. It’s isolating and some of the online video elements are tough for him. Finding a place to sit his exams is a challenge

Oh fabulous… almost Christmas, yay! I used to love Whitby (a bit too far from me now). And yes, I remember The Magpie – haddock, chips, mushy peas and white bread & butter, with a big pot of tea!

I didn’t realize Hawklad is doing college online. How wonderful. And congrats on finishing his (first?) term early!
Hope you both have a wonderful holidays season ahead!

My little heart sings whenever ‘Whitby’ is mentioned. We had such a wonderful time there. The sun was shining and all was well with the world. Yes, Bram Stoker must have been so inspired by everything that is Whitby!

Is the arch made from whale bones? Gothic Dracula indeed! Here’s to less mist (we’ve got it here too) and more festive cheer. Raising a half pint of cider to you and Hawklad!

A peculiar kind of place indeed! The fog’s been heavy in Wisconsin lately, and I’m ready for it to move on. Blech!

Merry Christmas to you and Hawklad, Garry! I’m sending lots of prayers and hugs, always. And, Dracula wouldn’t stand a chance with me. He’d refuse my blood, I know! I’m safe to take into these places, tee hee.
