It’s been hot here, well hot for Yorkshire. Touching 30C for day after day. On top of that, it’s been seriously dry this year. Our area was the first in the country to get a hosepipe ban. Hardly a drop of rain for weeks, the reservoirs are no more than a third full. We do need RAIN.
Some things are just written in Stone…..
Hawklad loves F1 motor racing, so this year he got his first taste of seeing it for real.
The British Grand Prix at Silverstone. 165,000 fans about to get VERY WET.

Even the Drivers getting very wet….

One support race Red Flagged and stopped as the track was too dangerous.

Talk about four seasons in one day. Blazing sunshine, fork lightning, sudden wind storms, torrential rain.
But thankfully there was just enough blazing sunshine and three of the biggest sponges ever…

Hawklad got to see his first live F1 race.

F-1, how lucky! A dream of mine …. one days perhaps!

A fantastic experience! I used to watch regularly in the Schumacher days…long ago, and a tragic ending. Silverstone is so often wet- even during a hosepipe ban! I watched part of it from a cafe in the Algarve, keeping out of the sun xx

we loved the movie, bizarrely the first shot of a race track shows the stand we were in.

In my teenage years, I did a few stints as at the hot dog and burger stand at Silverstone. Mostly saw the inside of the van, the peoples hands with money and for food, the action in the distance and then packing up. As for racing, the amount of motor bikes 🏍️ I’ve been pillion passenger on, when they’ve decided to compete 🏁 on the open road, well that’s in big figures.

my chopper bike was too scary for me, motor bikes would a a step too far.

I remember the first time I got on a motorbike to ride it and it was far too quick to be off, trying to leave me behind. I guess you get used to things, but now I’m not so keen. I will keep the scars of falling off for the rest of my life. Thankfully they aren’t so bad and I’m still alive, but still, did I really need to learn the hard way?

That’s what we say about Melbourne (capital of Victoria) – four seasons in one day! Luv Melbourne…
The noise beats me. As a teenager my boyfriend, a car racing enthusiast, took me along with him. I tried hard to like it, but, the noise, the smells, the waiting about all took their toll. The guys loved it all. Go Hawklad.

I never thought I’d see the day when you’d write about Yorkshire not having enough rain😄 Mighty glad about Hawklad catching his first F1 race. We all need a little something from time to time to lift us from this life and he got his.

This weekend we had a good try at getting the rain totals back up again.

My son managed together a job there this year, standing in for a colleague who was ill. He’s never been before, and although he was working he also watched the race. What an amazing experience!
