I was reading a little bit of a Carl Sagan’s Book to our son. Our son asked me to reread a couple of quotes.
“We are like butterflies who flutter for day and think it is forever”
“Books permit us to voyage through time, to tap the wisdom of our ancestors”
We then had a long chat about life, death and living forever. Cryogenics came up.
It got me thinking maybe books are a better bet than cryogenics. If you are talented enough to become a book author then your words can live forever. Books are so much cheaper. Books are not as frigidly cold and far more illuminating. I think Carl would vote for books.
Thank you for reading this

I am comforted by the notes left by my grandmother even though they aren’t in a book. They certainly lived on after her and make me smile.

That’d so nice, thank you

Your son, I do believe, is intellectually far above me! And I like your take on books … if you could see my home, with books occupying every square inch of shelf space and the overflow stacked in every corner … you would know that books are my vice (well, besides smoking and wine 😉 ) Good job, Dad!!!

Thank you so much. Yes I have too many books. Not too many for me just too many for the house….

First I had to look up cyrogenics, and then I had to add Carl Sagan to my ‘to be read’ list. Learning all the time. I love your posts.

Carl Sagan brought science and the universe alive for me as a kid. He wrote beautifully and his voice was almost hypnotic.

Happy to read, and so true. Our bodies are but dust and blood. Our souls, our language–they live on, ever and always. x

It must be a lovely feel being in that position. Do you get goosebumps just thinking about what you done so far? xx

Honestly? No. I cry because it never feels like I’m doing enough.

It’s strange how one person can look at something and see a staggering level of achievement (especially as you have so much else going on) and someone else sees a much lower level. You shouldn’t be so hard on yourself.

I try. I’m sure you know how hard it is to find perspective when you work so much alone.

I do. I lecture you but I know that I am my harshest critic. It so difficult to get mental balance when you are own your own for long periods.
