Couple of hours to ponder life as Hawklad takes an exam at a local college. Passed quite a few dog walkers along these tree lined avenues. A couple of thoughts struck me….
Many of the dog walkers looked so stressed out. Polite but no many smiles. Some talking on phones, some head down looking like they had the weight of the world upon them, some purposely keeping their distance.
Yet every single dog looked happy. Tails wagging, some carrying sticks, some chasing balls., some diving in and out of the undergrowth. All keen for attention and a stroke as they passed by.
Something might be going on here….
We have lots of dog walkers here, around the estate, in the park, on the beach. We know most and exchange pleasantries. The dogs are eager to walk, Maya is allowed to look, not engage. She’s too big and I have to be careful as most dogs here are small. There are a few where we allow nose to nose and kisses.
Few mobiles out though, which is nice as the dogs are getting attention. Hope Hawklad passed his exam.

I think most dogs have a better handle on what it means to live a good life than most people. They tense when there is danger and remain calm when there is not.

they do, they seem to just be able to enjoy the moment

Indeed. Tough world for humans right now, but glad the dogs are maintaining their joy.

Most dogs seem incredibly happy, but I think most feel a responsibility to their owners, be it protection, or feeling our emotions or whatever. I think the real winners are cats. They sleep most of the day and don’t seem to have a care in the world. Good luck to the kid!

Those happy dogs imply that perhaps a more simpler life is superior to a more complex one.

People could learn a lot from dogs. We take life too seriously.

Maybe we ought to rethink the saying “It’s a dog’s life”

Yes, no hypocrisy from them.

The moral of that, as I’ve often thought, is don’t have a dog.
Hope the exam went well.

Dogs pick up on human stress, so hopefully those people were temporarily distracted though since you noticed so many looking that way it suggests something deeper.

Best of luck to Hawklad! 🙏
Dogs and cats have the happiest lives, generally, and we can all learn from them on how to release the weight off the world off our shoulders.

Reason #1312 for having dogs. How can you maintain stress and unhappiness when in their bouncy, joyful, or chilled out blissful presence? Always greeted with excitement and unconditional love.
Hope Hawklad’s exam was a good experience for him and he gets the result he deserves.

Such a beautiful pathway – it’s hard to imagine anything other than enjoyment! Such is life for some. I feel quite blessed to have a dog (wuppy wup). All she wants is love, and yummy food. Here’s hoping the best for Hawklad’s exam. Fingers crossed.

You might have hit upon something here, although to buck the trend, I love my dog walks and am very friendly and chatty.
