A few more hours of snow before the warmer weather arrives.
I think I’m going to miss it…
As I was looking at our lake set in a winter wonderland. Briefly illuminated with a beautiful sun beam. All very fleeting and temporary. All too soon it will be blasted away by our normal Yorkshire weather. Soon the snow will be gone. Soon the lake will be gone.
Our little family lockdown feels way more permanent and long lasting. No chance to travel and explore. The snow covered Alps, Scottish Highlands, Snowdonia and the Lakeland Fells seem so out of reach at present. No prospect of walking on the moors and the beach. So it was kind of nice that the snow came to us. Bringing the wilds to us.
But just all a bit too fleeting.
Once it’s gone then it feels like the lockdown will really kick in again. More about grinding the days out than setting out on adventures. But at least we have had a taste of what it’s like to be out there. A reminder of what a beautiful world we live in. Why there is always hope and something to live for.
That sunbeam is a wonderful symbol of hope of better days to come!
And I noticed you also liked the Scottish Islands, another wonderfully magical place! π

I would gladly trade you our 12″ of snow and single digit temperatures for your warming trend! And no relief in sight … just more c-c-cold and more snow. I want SPRING!!!

Tomorrow will take care of itself, and if you take the time to remember, you know this to be true. The snow will melt, the lake will disappear, and the moors will blosson with new life. First the greenery, then the gaily-colored flowers, wild or cultured.
Take the time to smell the new growth. You will be invigorated, I promise.

Thank you, whichever sister you are. Yes, I have noticed a lot likes from TGR these past few months, and I have been waiting for you to reply to one.
Please don’t take this wrong, but likes tell me nothing about a person (or persons), which is why I so seldom use them. It is when replies come in that I know I have really connected with someone in some way, bad or good. It’s just the way I’m built. Having you respond to this one makes me feel fuzzy inside, so thank you once again.

Do you have binoculars? Any chance of a walk, anytime? Zoom meetings? BBC “Earth?” You need something.

I’ve been thinking a lot about hope really, and it strikes me how much of a gift it is. It might seem strange to say, but the fact that we always find a reason to look forward, look for a positive and fight our way through, I think it’s one of the most powerful emotions.
Thank you for such an inspiring post in these weird, rarely wonderful times. You bring a lot of peace to my heart.
