A trip out for Hawklad to a World Heritage Site in Yorkshire. To Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal. Is it the only SOCK related site on the esteemed list.

Maybe that is what Captain Chaos is working on, just his will involve way more socks….. AND his socks will be way more CHEWED….

Socks and Dogs but no Rock and Roll. And there was me thinking that culture in Yorkshire revolved around Harry Ramsden and the Rhubarb Triangle . . .

I think it was completed in 1836.

You know I think this might be one of the few abbeys in Yorkshire we never visited. It was always on the list.

It’s a bit out of the way but it’s a massive site. But easy from the motorway. Huge parkland and lakes. It’s so worth a visit.

I think the socks relates back to the pre war struggles the country faced. Poor kids came here to be trained and work. The socks are those of boys who stayed here.

The place was used to provide opportunities for poor kids from back before the war. They represent the boys who stayed here.

Ohhh. That’s odd but interesting. Do you know why it’s socks instead of shoes or shirts or anything else?
