On the radio I have just heard a politician describe those who are advocating a rethink on school Covid safety as ‘left wingers playing politics with our kids future’. Apparently schools are perfectly safe and don’t need any form of additional safeguards. Items like masks are not needed and are an infringement on civil liberties. Parents should listen to those that know the facts……

Ok I am just your average muppet single parent. What do I know. How can I possibly doubt the Government’s decision to remove masks from schools.

Shall we listen to the Independent Science Advisory Group. Independent Sage concluded that “don’t think we can do anything but conclude that this government is seriously carrying out its herd immunity policy through natural infection, through school children.”

Or shall we see what a leading World Epidemiologist thinks. I’d rather listen to him than some trumped up politician who plays politics.

  1. There is a reason that Andrew Bridgen’s colleagues call him ‘thick as mash’.
He is saying that BMA are in collusion with mask manufacturers.
    No (polite) words.

      1. Sorry. It referred to a UK politician who said said that the British Medical Association are only saying that people should wear masks as they are colluding with mask manufacturers.
The politician does not have the greatest reputation. His family are in business processing potatoes. It became known that some of his ministerial colleagues nick named him ‘ thick (stupid) as mash(ed potatoes).
There was an English lesson you didn’t really need 😉

  2. If wearing masks is leftist-thinking, then I guess rightist-thinking is that kids should get sick and still come to school until every student in Britain has been infected. If even 1% of them die, well, big shit. They probably weren’t going to live anyway.
But what happens when their public school kids start dropping like leaves, how are they going to explain to their wives–the mothers of those kids–that it was just a numbers game. I hope the mothers tear their balls off.
Meanwhile, there have been many cases of people getting Covid a second time, though I haven’t yet heard about third times. This tells me herd immunity is a myth. There is no natural immunity if you can get the same virus two, or more, times.
But I guess your right-wing politicians don’t believe that little fact. And their moon is made of cheese.

      1. Brainless idiots. We got the same brainless idiots here in Alberta. Canada’s biggest tourist attraction starts this Friday. The Calgary Stampede draws people from all over the world. They come in the millions, packed into midway and arenas and stadiums. So our premier opened everything as if there is no pandemic. No restrictions at all. In two to three weeks the covid cases are going to soar, but he doesn’t care, he has his two vaccine shots to protect him. Where bo they come from?

      2. Thought there were still restrictions on who could come into Canada?
        Is that the province?
Some strange ideas come out of Alberta if that’s the case.

  3. How do we begin to fight against politicians ? I am so sorry that you have such a battle on your hands. Things are weird here too and I have a dim view of the future but I am old so it doesn’t matter as much. I am just a cynical pessimist, so maybe things will change for the better. I hope they do in the UK for sure.

  4. over here in the u.s. its a mixed bag depending on where u live as they let the schools decide. However no matter what they decide there are always protesters out holding signs about it- “”masking our kids is cruelty” or “Save our kids from unmasking”..so , you just cant win it seems. The above screen shot pretty much represents my feelings as well.

      1. Lovie Price, we can conclude so much from what we hear, see, read about and my conclusion: Top down doesn’t work, we have to protect ourselves 😷 from the virus, our families, friends and strangers, as best we can.

  5. California released all restrictions on June 15. I still see lots of masks when I’m at the grocery store, or even just walking the neighborhood.

Ben has had both shots, but his school still requires masks since younger kids who aren’t eligible for vaccine attend school there too.

I hate that masking has been politicized! I wore a mask shopping the other day, and there were other shoppers without masks. I thought “whatever. To each their own” Then an announcement came over the store PA system that vaxxed people could shop without masks, but unvaxxed people should still wear them.

Maybe it was my imagination, but it seemed like other shoppers were looking at my mask and giving me Stink Eye. I’m vaxxed, but I was just being cautious and respectful.🤷🏼‍♀️

It sucks that what should be an obvious public health issue had become so mixed up with political ideology☹

    1. Pretty stupid announcement by the supermarket. Vaccinated can still spread it. The mask protects others. Why is this so complicated for so many a year and a half later 😦

      1. Unfortunately people still aren’t thinking about the health part of it. It’s all about the politics. At least in the US it is. There are STILL people who believe COVID is a hoax, or that vaccines scramble your DNA.
Media doesn’t report facts half the time, just click bait, or the “party line”.
        It frustrates and angers me.

    2. That must have been awful in the shop, scary and hard not to freak out, for the nutters are always with us! I recall when it first started: I was in a shop getting essentials and there was someone who literally sped around, then bumped into me, face to face! 😷😷
All this time later, I’ve had both doses of Pfizer and looked after clients at work with covid to total recovery, but there is no way I’d do that without protection (which is actually like wearing clingfilm in a hot kitchen full of steam and expected to embroider small flowers on a paper napkin).
It’s all a bit top down crap, to divide and thus control to conquer.
I for one am not a wildebeest 🐃🐃🐃🐃🐃 I do not wish to be part of a “Herd” pushed to my doom, standing at the water’s edge!

      1. My older daughter is a nurse and worked a COVID unit, not ICU, but not good either. She sent me a picture of her full PPE, PAPR and everything. I wish that more people had been allowed to see what was really happening, but the hospitals wouldn’t allow it.
It probably wouldn’t have made a difference to most of the selfish idjits. I can’t think about them… it’s bad for my blood pressure. I still have so much anger. SOOO much anger…

      2. I think of it as like being wrapped from my hands to my neck in clingfilm, with some sort of burka made of black bin bags over that and an old beekeeper hat to top it all. My own little claustrophobic sauna for one, with the fear it will fail. On and off for hours, while maintaining a cheerful act and working hard. Can we make MopHead 👱🏻‍♂️ do a few shifts? Oh and I made an ode about when I had to cut my hair to escape the PPE glue.

      3. 😂😂 my daughter hated the face shields cuz they dug into her forehead, even with the Lil strip of padding. That’s why she used the PAPR. She said it was like a Jiffy Pop made of plastic shopping bag, but still better than the face she’d. Plus, she could pretend she was a low budget astronaut 😉😂

  6. It’s amazing how wearing a simple cloth over your face has somehow infringed on everyone’s rights. I’m curious what rights are being violated by these awful, insidious masks.
