Apparently I have to walk or run 50km next week so this chap evolves. Dads do have their uses when it comes to Pokémon Go. That’s probably as far as my usefulness goes. But at least I do recognise my limitations. Sadly sone people have boundless ambition and see no limit to their abilities. That is terrifying.

We foolishly watched the news.

Dad can I ask a silly question. Shouldn’t the science panel advising the Government be made up of scientists.”

Yes you would hope that a panel of scientists is in fact a group of science experts. For months the UK Government has kept going on about how it’s policy on the virus is determined by this secretive science elite. As they are scientists (and clearly they know more than we do) then we should trust Government policy. Ok that sounds like a plan.

He’s not a scientist. He’s that awful man who tells the PM what to do. How come he is on the science panel.”

After months of having to sign up to a science led approach we suddenly find out that the secretive science panel is compromised of some scientists but has key members who are political appointees. Cummings, the key PM adviser is a lead member. This is a man who believes in Eugenics – that is selective breeding and human intervention to improve the human gene pool. This is also a man who apparently thought that high levels of virus deaths was ok as most would be elderly. He’s not alone on the science panel. He has buddies. He is joined by a data specialist who came up with the Government’s online election campaign. He also has some very worrying views on the uses of private data. These two characters drive the science panel while some scientists on the panel can attend but are not allowed to ask questions. These have to be submitted in writing prior to meetings so they can be filtered. Suddenly it’s so much harder to have faith in our science led approach.

But what do I know. I’m only good for evolving pokemon.

  1. I luv this blog. Its very true that 1) theres a lack of transparency and qualified individuals, which should be advising and notifying the public. I think there is a bottom top systematic structure thats utilized to pass down information to us. Meaning the people that know less speak more on issues they are less experienced with while the experienced are silent. Or perhaps the experienced don’t exist at all?🤔

  2. Ha. Sounds like here in the USA where the head of our “task force” is none other than the #2 politician in the country: VP Mike Pence. This when we have brilliant minds like our Dr. Fauci on the task force. That is the same Dr. Fauci who Trump loves to silence.

  3. I think you know a good bit more than the people “advising” the government there. It is totally shocking and mind boggling that there are actual people who believe in Eugenics in this day and age. A politician in Texas also put forth the thought that the elderly should be willing to die for their children and grandchildren – it’s chilling and the stuff of nightmares these people who are running our countries. While I think Canada has a decent Prime Minister, the Premier of the province of Alberta leaves a LOT to be desired.

    1. Absolutely agreed. He only knows one word, “OIL,” even though according to him oilfield businesses are losing money with current oil prices. He is “bailing them out!” while cutting education and social programs more and more all the time.

  4. I did not know about Cummings and his belief in Eugenics. It is my 72nd birthday tomorrow. For anlong time now, both myself and my husband have felt exceedingly uncomfortable with this idea that the elderly are unimportant and can be dispensed with. We are PEOPLE. And we STILL have something to give to society, even ME who is blind and in a wheelchair. Yes, we are PEOPLE!

      1. Thankyou Gary. I am going to try to make people more aware of what is going on. I have been spending some time doing some research on it tonight. I mean reading about him and his cronies.

      1. Yes, indeed! The current government of the US is anything but realiable and responsible. A terrible chaos with a King Louie on top. Btw. I am Austrian living in the Principality of Liechtenstein… just in case… lol

  6. Your son is one smart guy. I have said for ages that this is like some sick joke re that panel. If they told us to stick our hands under our feet and walk about for ten minutes like that chanting whatever, sadly some people would do it. But speak out and you are the bad one, not staying home and staying safe and saving out NHS and all. When you actually look at the facts and figures you can get your hands on if you rake hard enough you seriously wonder why.

      1. Well we have protected them. THAT was why these measures were put in place… allegedly. Up here there’s private clinics going to be reopening cos the workers who do both were not needed by the NHS.. There’s screening reopening —it may have been moved to the smaller regional hospitals, but still–the bed space was not needed there. And still they are screaming lockdown at us while peoples’ lives and livelihoods are going to the wall. Well like that up here, folks are just finding their way round it, espesh the tradesmen. They lose their businesses and then there’s no roofers, joiners, plumbers, the workforce that keeps a county on its feet not these bloody chinless fools in parliament. But the ordinary folks are finding their way round it too.

      2. It’s the constant lies. Most agree testing is the way out of this mess yet the won’t admit that many of the tests we are using are only 75% accurate. They won’t admit they got it wrong again. Now they are making a big thing of putting airport screening in place. 2 months after all other countries.

      3. it is disgraceful,. There’s been fruit pickers arriving up here from some of the worst hit areas of Europe… and all that happens is they sign a health declaration and get their temps taken. THEN they are living 4 to a caravan on site. People who are out of work right now are saying they applied, offered to bring their own caravan and all but obviously it is cheaper to hire workers from abroad, so they never got. And they want us to keep observing lockdown??? And listening to their waffle? They are a disgrace. End of.

      4. If they are reopening schools in May or June, surely they should tell headteachers what they likely rules are going to be so they can start to prepare. If we follow the German approach of enforcing 2m separation in classes with sizes no more than 15, then schools will need time to see what they can do. But they won’t.

      5. If they have any sense which we all know they don’t, they would be better now to wait till Aug/Sept. It gives time to work out things BUT also, having thought about it all, to see how things are going by this stage ergo exactly what may or not be needed. But the Bodge brigade ain’t exactly big on brains.

      6. Conveniently for that fat clown, his donors are now making noises…something the lying piece of excrement probably well knew as he’s been sitting there hiding his face and greeting about how ill he’s been, too ill to make any kind of strategy up here…. just so the public is clear here, this is these big bad donors, sob sob, sob, not him, but what can he do? Now I might be wrong but the entire handling is a charade. Well we turn out eyes to Sturgeon here, have done since this started.

Day two we get to him…. After all, the gods still weren’t appeased.
Day 3 Hancock.. He needs to slaver even more…… Then there’s Patel, Raab… (Sorry I am slavering )

      9. I think that’s it for me. Yesterday I overheard an older woman giving it what for to a couple who were obvi friends, she’d bumped into And they were too. We are being treated like fools and children. This would acceptable JUST if it was by people who really knew what they were doing. But they don’t. They have never asked us properly exactly what we wanted in the first place. Since then there’s been balls up after balls up. Even this new scare they are circulating re children is a balls up of the first order and I am not talking through a hole in my hat or anywhere else here. Any guiding info on treatment, or anything is getting submerged in a ton of shit. The same ton they are drowning in and taking us with them, while they mouth platitudes about how successful they are being, standing on the corpses of 40 thou people–can’t very well admit can they that 20 thou deaths from flu and pneumonia in the first half to this year is that wee bit ott? But hey shop lifting is down. ( Brilliant article today about how pub fights are down too…. ) The only true things they have said inadvertently …1 … Hancock.. We have never dealt with anything like this before. 2 Unfortunately you sometimes get deaths in care homes anyway. After the sheer amount of these were queried. I mean, no shit Sherlock? I don’t know if that one was Raab. But whoever it was was wiping the slavers. Just beyond belief.
Today my younger girl who is a lawyer was asked by the board running the Fife Law Centre …all rich as hell.. as are the other workers, could they take a pay cut? And she didn’t quite know what to do. I said, could you hell This is just places coming it now. They should have been furloughed. You are still working from home. Also as ever all the rich git ones whose hubbies have fancy jobs don’t see this as a prob. But her man has his own joinery biz built up after the recession from nothing and utterly now dependent on people being able to afford to have work done after this, You can see I m getting scunnered re this one speaking for all stuff but that is what is going on right now and if you don’t wave the flag you are the baddie.

      10. At least with say Germany they have a plan. They have independent scientists which include virus experts and logistic planners. They are testing and testing accurately. Points of entry are being screened. And they have a benchmark to work to. Infection rates. Below 1 and the relaxation of rules is ok, above 1 and things get temporarily tightened up. The process is managed and understood. Here it’s wear a little badge and let Cummings run the show.

    1. Here is is the silly season. A daily parade of the kind of idiots who would have been covered in rotten fruit 200 years ago. If not incarcerated. Not one sensible scientist worth listening to. Meantime we are the ones incarcerated AND the best bit???????? Now?? Having never ever having swallowed any of the guff re GREAT Britain.. I am still seriously left wondering how the hell the UK ever strode over segments of the globe AND managed two world wars.

      1. I take on board that yes this has hit and yes it is a nightmare but now now it is a joke. Right now I see there’s a boy of 13 on a ventilator apropos of that stupid NHS alert that went out re this mystery illness being coronavirus DESPITE kids testing negative. I am not going to swear here but if the test is negative then test for other things. Cos that boy is now on that ventilator cos they didn’t. They have treated it as something it is not as his condition worsened and worsened. And I am actually glad that the Ormond Street hosp has waded in. I wish the lot of them gov, experts and all would f off to planet Mars and give us all a break and peace.

  9. I actually can’t SEE I’m so angry reading this. I honestly never thought I would see the day when Donald Trump sounds vaguely like an ok-ish leader. Can’t we just scientifically despatch this shower of inhumanity that is running once-Great Britain. My husband is an astrophysicist – I’m sure he can come up with a way to shoot them into cyberspace. He’s got the willingness. He’s from Liverpool but left Britain when Thatcher was elected. This disgraceful band of inhumanity make her seem … but no. She and they represent all that is wrong in humanunkind

  10. At least you have a couple of scientists! Our Orange Leader keeps getting rid of the scientists. His Disinfectant Debacle last week was jaw dropping lunacy. Even Lysol manufacturer had to jump in and say “Do NOT do what your President just suggested!”
